Synopsis
Empire is a celebration of hope and the human spirit. The show opens in 1929, everybody's up, excited and dancing on smoke over the good times and big profits when suddenly the stock market crashes. John J. Raskob, a high powered financier, and Al Smith, charismatic, beloved, ex-governor of New York, are driven to build the tallest building in the world, even during such dire times. New Yorkers find themselves inspired by the over-sized dreams of these men, and the workers are prepared to face this adversity with boldness, hope, and daring.
